Martin Luther King Jr. Day / Make A Difference

Monday, January 18 marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the United States. Dr. King was a Civil Rights leader known for his nonviolent activism in the 1950s - 1960s. He fought for desegregation, the right to vote for Black citizens, and civil rights for all. He is famous for his “I Have A Dream” speech. Today we remember his legacy with a federal holiday on the third Monday of every January, as well as a Memorial statue in Washington, D.C. and a street named after him in nearly every state.

In line with Dr. King’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, this February 5-7 will be our inaugural Make A Difference Live Virtual Weekend. This course teaches students how to make a positive impact on the world as a whole, and within their communities big and small. They’ll discuss diversity in the United States in our cultural awareness classes, and will build the skills to interact with people from different backgrounds and life experiences. They will also learn stress management, mindfulness and conflict resolution to help them better cope with challenging situations. (And let’s be honest, these days, we could all use a little help with stress management and mindfulness.)

And best of all, the Live Virtual Weekend format allows them to interact with their fellow au pairs all weekend as they learn! Click here to register now for our Make A Difference Live Virtual Weekend!
