Our October Discover the U.S. Live Virtual Weekend was a huge hit!
In addition to lessons about U.S. politics and geography, our students also had the opportunity to learn about its national holidays and traditions. While Thanksgiving and the 4th of July are uniquely American, there is something special about the way the U.S. celebrates Halloween. COVID-19 may have altered costume parties and trick-or-treating this year, but it can’t stop us from celebrating altogether. All across America, folks are expressing their best spooky selves through home decor, pumpkin carving, and Zoom costumes.
To get them in on the fun, Live Weekend students were invited to vote on the best Halloween celebrations from our social media challenge.
Now the students have spoken, and the winners of the APW Halloween Celebration Contest are…
#1: Terrifying special effect makeup by Paulina M. from Mexico!
#2: A zombie pumpkin attack by Joharita P. from South Africa!
#3: Spooky front yard decorations by Candice W. from South Africa!
Runner Ups:
Sarah E. from Germany
Jimena T. from Argentina
Geena F. from Germany
If you’re interested in attending a Live Virtual Weekend with us, your next chance will be Discover The U.S., December 4 - 6, 2020. We’ll be running a new Holiday Contest then too, so keep an eye out for that on social media as the weekend draws closer!
