December TRANSPORTATION TO CAMPUS

This course will be held at two venues in Santa Monica

Public Transportation

LA’s public transportation is not as robust as many other cities. If you’re interested in taking the bus or train to get around, read this beginner’s guide to public transportation in Los Angeles and utilize Google Maps' convenient public transit option when calculating travel times. You may still need to rely on Uber or Lyft to complete your journeys.

Travel Between Airports & Campus

If you are coming directly from LAX Airport, there are many ways to get to Santa Monica. One popular option is the Big Blue Bus.

Campus Parking

Downtown Santa Monica does not have any free parking available in our area, but the city has different public parking structures. There are two best options close to our hostel:

  • Parking Structure 6 (1431 2nd St, Santa Monica, CA 90401) is just in front of our hostel. You pay per hour until a maximum of $25 per calendar day. It resets at midnight.

  • Civic Center Parking Structure (330 Olympic Dr, Santa Monica, CA 90401) is about 10min by walk from the hostel, and it says a rate of $5 per calendar day on weekends. It resets at midnight.

The first 90 minutes are free in those parking structures. This is usually good for cars and SUVs, but if your inquiry is about minibuses, probably those structures are not a good fit. Please, see the Santa Monica Parking website for more information. Email parking@smgov.net or call 310-458-8295 to double-check what the best options are. This is the information that I’ve found on that website:

Paid parking is currently available in Lot 4 South (2030 Barnard Way). The lot is open from sunrise to sunset and rates vary by season. Please email parking@smgov.net for more information.

The hostel is a 10-minute walk from the Metro E (Expo) Line in Santa Monica, and the Big Blue Bus is a great way to get to LAX or the greater LA area.

You may still need to rely on Uber or Lyft to complete your journeys.

Travel Between Airports & Campus

If you are coming directly from LAX Airport, there are many ways to get to The Park DTLA. One popular option is the LAX FlyAway Bus, which will take you to Union Station. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk or a short Uber/Lyft ride to The Park DTLA. Alternatively, you can take the Metro B Line (Red) from Union Station to Civic Center/Grand Park Station, which is a 10-minute walk from the venue.

Campus Parking

Downtown Los Angeles does not have any free parking available in our area, but the city has different public parking structures. There are two best options close to The Park DTLA:

  • 201-281 S. Figueroa St. Garage (The venue): Located at The Park DTLA, you pay $3.25 per 15 minutes with a maximum of $32.50 per calendar day. Evening rates after 5 PM are $13. This garage operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM, but overnight parking is not allowed.

  • 350 South Figueroa Parking Structure: This structure is a short walk from The Park DTLA. Rates and availability may vary, so it’s best to check online or call ahead.

The first 90 minutes are free in some parking structures. However, for larger vehicles like minibuses, these options may not be suitable. Please see the Los Angeles Parking website for more information. Email parking@smgov.net or call (213) 972-8470 to double-check what the best options are. This is the information currently available:

Paid parking is also available at 601 S. Figueroa St. This lot is open 24/7, and rates vary by day and time. For more information, please call the garage directly or use online parking tools like ParkMe or ParkWhiz.

The venue is a 10-minute walk from Civic Center/Grand Park Metro Station, and the LAX FlyAway Bus is a great way to get to Union Station and continue your journey.
