Get the most out of your time in the United States by improving your English skills! Learn about American accents, cultural traditions, and travel tips - all while exploring the sights and history of a major U.S. city! Learn to speak like a local using American expressions and idioms. Practice your listening and speaking skills with exciting classroom discussions, workshops, and excursions and strengthen your reading and writing skills with written assignments.

Learning about culture shock stages and self care practices will help you overcome the struggles of living in a new country. Developing your fluency and confidence will help you express yourself, so that you can more easily connect with your host family and local community. 

 

This course is offered at two levels: Intermediate or Advanced. Click here to see which is right for you! Before the course begins, you will also get a link to complete an English Placement test, which will help us determine what level is best for you.

  • New York City: Practice your skills in the heart of it all! Use your English to navigate a diverse city full of different cultures and languages. (36 hours / 3 credits)

Want to learn more about the English language and U.S. culture at your own pace? Take advantage of our online English courses, available in Advanced, Intermediate, and a combined Intermediate and Advanced format. These courses offer the opportunity to learn everything from household chore vocabulary and public speaking to books, shopping, and food!

 

You will learn how to take advantage of opportunities to practice English that are immediately around you. During these courses, we encourage you to get your host kids involved to help you improve your English, too! Learn how to tell better stories, understand cultural norms, and use your creativity in another language.

 

Available:
 

  • Online Intermediate English: Build foundational skills with a focus on public speaking, storytelling, communication skills, and daily life vocabulary (36 hours / 3 credits).

  • Online Advanced English: A deep dive into English and U.S. culture, focusing on advanced vocabulary, email writing, job preparation, and more (36 hours / 3 credits).​

  • Online Intermediate & Advanced English Combo: A comprehensive course that covers all topics from both Intermediate and Advanced levels, providing a balanced approach to vocabulary, grammar, and the four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening (60 or 72 hours / 6 credits).
